Among the 150 largest-cap stocks, 98 (65%) closed higher. 56% of all TSX stocks ended higher.

In terms of sectors, 11 sectors closed up, 1 sector closed down, ranging from -2.9% to 2.1%. 9 sectors outperformed the market, the market internal was more positive. The market was up 0.6%; Consumer Defensive was up 2.1%, the best performer, reflecting a more risk-averse market; Basic Materials was down -2.9%, the worst performer.
